Heros

I have always been a fan of superheros, i watch movies and animations of superheros and never get enough of them. I've watched Captain America 2 waaaay too many times and i don't get tired of it. But then yesterday i got reminded that the real superheros are not those that put on some fancy costume and do supernatural things. The real heros are the people in our lives  that go far and beyond to help us out, they are selfless, unbiased, unjudgmental and most importantly A BLESSING when we need them. My superheros on Saturday are Anna and my sister Pendo. They came through for me when others didn't. May God bless them for blessing me and my 5 very late passengers who almost missed their flights.

Monday wisdom

#GoodMONDAY

You're good to go when everything around you are in their best shape together. You can't travel for a long journey with a bad engine. You can't just ignore and keep moving like nothing is happening. Everybody is busy trying to meet ends and the hustle is highly demanding. It's all about finding your balance in the loops of life.

A stitch in time saves nine. Find time to fix that problem now because it expands with time and can finally break you down. You have to do what you got to do and the best time is now. Stop running from responsibilities and start meeting up to your call.

When you're free you move lighter and faster. Stop holding things inside and start expressing them out. Stop avoiding your duty and start being on top of your game. Stop complaining and start making things happen. Stop being afraid and start boldly being the best you can be for yourself, your family, your friends, colleagues and the world at large.

Focus on your life goals.

You can still give that thing you really love one more real pull or push. The reason you've not gotten it yet is you haven't gone right enough for it. The reason you're not there now is you haven't travelled the distance. The biggest winners never quit but rather they keep trying again smarter.

You can be wherever or whatever you want to be if you work hard at it. If you put enough effort you can move anything. It is more about doing the right things to get the best reactions getting those things done.

It doesn't really matter how many times you've tried but the most important thing is how well you finish. Just see your trying time as a learning process towards achieving and keeping your life goals. Why not try that thing again with only one mindset drive to settle for nothing lesser than success. Let's have a winning week ahead.

Speaking in Tongues

Speaking in Tongues

Written by Dr. Caroline Leaf

CAN THE MIND CHANGE THE BRAIN? and GLOSSOLALIA 'SPEAKING IN TONGUES' AND HEALTH!

WATCH this video clip (36 mins) as Dr Leaf address the question..Can the Mind change the brain? and the impact on the brain when Speaking in Tongues!

Glossolalia or 'speaking in tongues' is a phenomenon described in the Bible and was first experienced by Jesus' early disciples (Acts 2). Since that first experience, Glossolalia been practiced throughout history. Glossolalia experienced a popular resurgence at the beginning of the 20th century through the Azusa Street Revival which started the Pentecostal Movement. As a result of the Azusa Street Revival and subsequent Charismatic Renewal in the 1960s, it has been estimated that about 600 million Christians worldwide believe in or practice Glossolalia [1]. In this brief outline we will examine the effect of Glossolalia on the brain and health in general.

In 2006 Dr. Andrew Newberg at the University of Pennsylvania, using single-photon emission computerized tomography (SPECT), found that the frontal lobe of individuals who spoke in tongues was less active [2]. This brain profile was in contrast to Franciscan nuns in contemplative prayer and Buddhist monks in meditation, in which frontal lobe activity is increased. Since the frontal lobe activity is increased when we are focused on what we are saying, this finding confirms self-reports of what people who spoke in tongues experienced, implying that the words spoken in Glossolalia originate from a source other than the mind of the individual speaking in tongues.

In a 2011 report on a study examining 52 Pentecostals, Dr. Christopher Lynn found that speaking in tongues may actually reduce biological stress as indicated by examining two bio-markers of stress- cortisol and alpha amylase [3]. Additionally, in a study among nearly 1,000 evangelical Christians in England, speaking in tongues was associated with increased emotional stability [4].

It is interesting that recent television news reports on Glossolalia has been mostly positive, some quoting the saying that speaking in tongues 'is the purest form of prayer- beyond the constraints of normal language' [5].

Turning Away - Bryan Andrew Wilson

It's never too late to turn away...........awesome song!!!

Personal Finance Questions

1. How should I track my personal spending?
The simplest way to track your spending, especially your cash, is the low-tech way, with a notebook and a pen. By carrying around the notebook with you, you can actually track exactly where every dollar is going—from a small coffee on your way to work to a spending splurge at the mall. If you’d prefer, on a daily or weekly basis, you can transfer your handwritten notes to a computer spreadsheet.

2. What financial reports should my family have?
Each family should spend some time tracking their financial progress, and the best way to do that is to develop a few financial reports that you’ll update monthly or semi-annually. These reports include a family budget and a balance sheet.

3. When do I create and update my personal budget?
Individuals should start budgeting and tracking expenses as soon as they begin their first full time job. Revisit your budget every few months, and whenever significant life changes occur, such as raises, marriage, the birth of children, and divorce.

4. What financial professionals should I consider working with to help manage my personal finances?
If you find that you need help with your finances, professionals such as tax advisors, credit counselors, financial planners, and lawyers can help. Before working with any financial professional, be sure to check their credentials. You may choose to ask your friends and family if they have any trusted financial partners that they recommend. Ask specific questions about their history and areas of expertise. Finally, be sure that you are comfortable with the advisors you choose; ideally, you will be financial partners for life.

5. Why is a personal balance sheet important?
A balance sheet calculates your net worth by comparing your financial assets (what you own) with your financial liabilities (what you owe). The difference between the two is your personal net worth. Don’t be discouraged if your net worth is negative—keep in mind that this should be an accurate depiction of your financial situation. Setting goals is much easier once you know what your current net worth is.

#GoodMONDAY

I have learnt a lot in life just being a good listener. Being watchful I have seen a lot of things way beyond the human reasonable imagination. I bet you have experienced things not even seen in the wildest movies...

Being slow to reaction is detrimental in many ways to movement speed but in the long run most time a blessing for me. Sometimes the challenges you're facing are just protecting you from some evil lurking by you can't naturally see. Don't be lazy but never you force it or be in a rush. Do not compare yourself to anybody but always concentrate on getting the best out of you.

Many people play themselves out trying to run faster than their required pace. I have seen some so called losers finally making it super big. From wherever you are right now, you can make it happen. Starting with what you have right now you can get whatever you want. Just stop wasting quality time looking away and start driving yourself from your inside. Let's have a great week being the best we can be for our goals.

James Fortune & FIYA - Still Able

Boy, this song blessed me today!!!
[Verse 1:]
I've been hurt and abused
Even lied to by the ones I’ve trusted most
I've had some nights, I cried more than I prayed
That’s when God said to me I am still in control

[Pre Chorus:]
Now the worry is over and the doubt is gone away
God reminded me, that's he's still able
God reminded me that he’s still able

[Verse 2:]
There are some days I feel like giving up
How could God love me and let me go through so much
I'm afraid to carry this hurt all alone
I need your help Lord with you I can move on

[Pre Chorus]

[Bridge:]
Sometimes it seems there's no way out
So many problems weigh you down
You've got to know he cares
And he wouldn't leave you there for long, be strong

[Vamp]

God is able, able
He's still able able
God is everything that you need
Everything that you need
Now the worry is over
I can wave the doubt away,
God reminded me, that he's still able.
God reminded me that he's still able
